Devotions:

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” ‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the United States this is the week that we officially celebrate Thanksgiving. It is a time of gathering of friends and family to give thanks to God for another year.

Paul says that we are to give thanks unto God in everything.  We do give thanks for all things because not everything is from God.  The enemy comes to try to steal, kill and destroy us and we do not attribute that activity to God.

Why give thanks in everything if some things are from the enemy meant to steal from us, kill us and destroy us? Because Romans 8:28 Our God will cause everything to work together for our good. Verse 26 and 27 of Riomans 8 is talking about praying and not knowing how to pray as we should but the Holy Spirit will help us or as the Greek says literally, take hold together with us against our problem, The praying that He talks about there is praying in the Holy Ghost. In Philippians 4 Paul says to pray and make supplication with thanksgiving, why thanksgiving? Because when praying effectively we believe that we receive what we pray for when we pray and we have it, wo when we pray we see, in the eye of our spirit, our imagination, the completed answer and we hold to that image of having received, So thanksgiving is a demonstration of our faith that what we have requested, we believe that we have received it.  We are not seeing in the natural what we have requested but we see it with out mind's eye and we rejoice in the answer with thanksgiving.
