Casting Down Imaginations
November 3, 2017
Devotions:
“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV
If you do not deal with the thoughts in your head that are wrong and you keep thinking on those thoughts they will become imaginations. Imaginations are what you act on consciously or unconsciously. When the wrong thoughts get to the point that they are imaginations then it takes more effort to cast down. these imaginations are contrary to who you are in Christ and they are trying to steal your identity. If you meditate on the word of God you will develope Godly imaginations. The image that we have in our hearts of ourselves, good or evil, right or wrong will dictate how we act in situations. Sometimes those imaginations have been instilled in us when we were very young.
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Ephesians 4:22-24 KJV
It is through the word of God that we cast down the vain imaginations which are lies and put on the new man. When we see ourselves as righteous this does not make us righteous. We are righteous by the new birth whether we see ourselves that way or not but we will not act in righteousness until we see ourselves that way.
This is the second area of conflict in the mind. What are you thinking on? It makes a difference in how you walk in this life.
