“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Colossians 1:12-14 KJV
In America this is the day that is especially set aside to give thanks to God. here in Colossians Paul gives the best reason to give thanks. First of all God made us meet, or qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. That inheritance is to be co-heirs with Jesus of the whole universe. We had nothing to do with the qualification, God did it all. God delivered us from the power of darkness. Unfortunately many Christians walk about as if they were still subject to the powers of darkness. They base it on their feelings and the circumstances and not on the word of God. It is believing the word of God and standing on it that will erase the lies of Satan that he has painted in our circumstances. The kingdom of darkness no longer has any power over us unless we allow it. We have been delivered.
Then we were translated into the kingdom of His dear Son. We stand to receive the same favor and treatment that the Son receives.we are in the Son so the favor, provision and power that the Son has we also have. We represent the Son who represents the Father.
In Him our debt to the court of heaven has been paid in full and we are the forgiven. Satan can no longer go before the court of heaven and make accusations against us that justice had to fulfill. Now our response it behold the blood of Jesus. He paid the tab in full by taking all of our punishment and forgiving us in the process.
