Fear Not

Devotions:

In the Bible over 365 times God or an angel of God shows up and the first thing that they say is fear not. And yet many Christians live in fear of God.  There is a reverential respect and honoring God that is also called fear but these are two different things.  One is the fear of reprisal, a cringing fear of God which is not Biblical.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” ‭1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So God is perfect love. As we spend time in His presence we begin to get a revelation of His love for us and it drives out fear.  Perfect love does not condone our sins it removes our sins and replaces it with something better.  All sin is a counterfeit for the real that God has.  When we spend time in His presence we get a revelation of the genuine so that the counterfeit does not tempt us anymore. The more time we spend in the presence of His love the more of a love child we become.  All we will want is to be in His presence. His all accepting, love embracing, non condemning presence.

We cannot create love or conjure up love.  We love because He first loved us.  The more we get a revelation of His love the more love it creates in our hearts towards God and towards others, believers and unbelievers alike.  This love creates  a reverential respect for our Father.
