Devotions:

        “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

        How is Emmanuel fulfilled in the name Jesus.  Because Jesus or Joshua, means Yahweh saves.  Jesus is God come in the flesh to bring salvation to all of mankind.  His salvation is through His presence with us and in us.  He was with the Israelites as long as they received Him but His presence with us is because He dwells within us by the new birth and is upon us in the baptism in the Holy Spirit. 

        In Titus 3:5 we are told that our salvation is through the washing (baptism) of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit. The washing of regeneration is the new birth but then we also need continual refilling by the Holy Spirit which is available to us but we must want it and know that it is ours. 

        If you study the Old Testament you will see that the success of the saints came because God was with them.  We have a greater measure of God's presence with us in the New Covenant so we should see a greater measure of success in our lives.  Our success is doing the will of God and as we seek to do this Matthew 6 Jesus says that our Heavenly Father will more than take care of our needs.

        We should become God inside minded.  Christ in us the hope of glory. And no longer I what lives but Christ in me. When Christ who is my life shall appear, I will appear with Him. We already have the victory. What we focus on will determine whether or not we will walk in that victory or in defeat.
