Forgetting
Devotions:
In order for us to have the faith to receive answers to our prayers we must forget all of our past faith failures, all our past prayer failures. As soon as we begin to pray, the enemy will remind us of all the times we prayed and did not get an answer. The reminder of all our past failures will utterly destroy our faith and without faith it is impossible to receive from God. We cannot look to our experience for our faith because our experience is inconsistent. Our faith is to be built exclusively on the word. Testimonies will enourage our faith but the foundation of our faith is the word of God.
We are also to put our victories in the past. They are good but our faith is in Jesus not in our victories. We celebrate our victories but as soon as we look to our victories or others victories instead of the word then we will hear a testimony where someone tried the same thing and failed or we will try in another situation and faith will fail and we will be defeated. The word of God will never change so our faith in God's word will stay strong His word is the basis of our faith.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 KJV
