Heart After God

Devotions:

Ever since man chose sin, Satan has had him in bondage to the fear of death. Mankind has been afraid of that ultimate day of meeting his creator face to face. Mankind knows that God is holy, righteous and just and we  know that we fall short of God's perfection. The fear of judgement has haunting pall over our lives. We know that we deserve judgement

The to good to be true news is that God is not angry with us any more. Even in the Old Testament God continually told the people to fear not and to listen to Him but they continually ignored Him and did their own thing. Doing their own thing is what destroyed them.

God removed the inferior covenant of the Hebrew people that depended upon them to keep their part which they could never do and replaced it with the New Covenant which is between the Father and our human representative, Jesus. In this new covenant we are born again from death and fear to life and peace. We are called into relationship with God on His terms. From that eternal relationship we enter into fellowship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. God has removed all reason to fear because He has taken all sin out of the way in Jesus. So our relationship is based on the finished work of Christ and not on our works. He has given us a heart that desires to do His will.

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬
