Reigning in Life

Devotions:

“For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

        Another translation puts it this way, "For if by the one man's offence death seized the sovereignty and ruled by one..."

        Sin brought death to all men.  Death is the separation from.  Sin first brought separation from our Heavenly Father and because of that separation physical death ensued.  There is no physical death without spiritual death.  That is why Jesus had to become our sin or else He could never die. But in taking our sin, He was separated from the Father on our behalf.

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” ‭Matthew‬ ‭27:46‬ ‭KJV‬‬

        When. Jesus paid the full price for our sin and defeated the devil, He rose from the grave victorious and righteous.  We who receive what Jesus did for us and declare that He is Lord over our lives are born into righteousness.  We rule in this life by walking in the abundance of grace and righteousness.  It is not of our own self or effort but it is all of God.  Our victory is in Christ Jesus and we see it manifest as we yield to and look to God for our total salvation.
