Tongues

Devotions:
One of the mightest tools that God has given us is the ability to pray in tongues. With it we worship God in excellence, we pray down secrets for our lives and as we wait God will also give us the interpretation so that our mind can be edified, we also pray supernatural prayers for places and persons unknown to us as well as for our future. Praying in tongues builds up us spiritually so that the enemy cannot easily defeat us with his lies. As we pray in tongues and then speak out the interpretation as God gives it we change the atmosphere, we change our life, we change situations. As we pray in tongues we become more aware of God and of the supernatural realm. When we pray in tongues we are praying from God's realm and not from the natural realm. We are praying words, though unbeknown to us, that the Spirit of God has given us and His supernatural power flows through our lips to bring His kingdom to the earth.
If we treat tongues as common or ordinary and not give it the place of honor in our thinking that it deserves then we will soon despise it and lose the benefit that God meant for us to walk in. We can fellowship and love those who do not believe in speaking in tongues but never allow their unbelief to become a part of your thinking. Our level of Christianity is not measured by our giftings but by Jesus Christ, exclusively. The more we walk in the knowledge of God and His wonderful gifts for us the more we walk in God's love for those around us who do not believe like we do and those who do believe like we do.
When we do not make use of this marvelous gift daily we despise it. We are all guilty of letting our time with the Lord slip. We are not condemned but we are looking to Him to bring us back into all that He has for us, including being excited about the privilege of praying in the supernatural language.
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”
1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.”
1 Corinthians 14:18, 39 KJV
