A Friend of God
Devotions:
When we know our righteousness then we will be bold in the face of sickness, disease, mishap, calamities, and all the work of the enemy. We will expect to walk in God's favor all the time. We know that God causes all things to work together for our good and so we expect that even when things go wrong God will turn the situation around to be a blessing as we pray about it. As we learn to walk in our righteousness, we are walking in the presence of the Father and His glory. We are then changed daily as we behold His glory because we are beholding our true self that He recreated us to be by the resurrection of Jesus. We received this new nature of righteousness when we accepted what Jesus did on our behalf on the cross. This righteousness is our new nature. As we enter into His presence our minds are renewed to the real us and we shed the old way of thinking. As Abraham was blessed by God, we then are objects of God's blessing by the Abrahamic covenant only our blessing is greater because we have a more perfect righteousness. Abraham had righteousness accounted to him, we were recreated in righteousness and true holiness. What Abraham had written to his account but he was still in his sins, we have imparted to us by the removal of our sins and the imparting of a new life of righteousness. Abraham was know as a friend of God, how much more are we not counted a friend of God but we must accept God's friendship to benefit from it.
“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”
James 2:23 KJV
“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”
Hebrews 8:6 KJV
