The Gift of Himself

Devotions:

God's greatest gift to mankind is the gift of Himself.  He gave of Himself for our salvation.    Our salvation is the total fulfillment of all that we were created to be.  We see this in the garden of Eden and in the glimpse that we get of heaven.  There is nothing lacking and nothing broken, no sighing, crying or dying, no sickness or disease, nothing to harm, all is of peace and love.  This is because God is in total control.  On earth there is a renegade in control, a control that was given to him by God's agent, Adam.  Jesus took the control back but it still operates through believing people exercising their authority.  We as the redeemed must realize that to operate in this victory we must maintain our fellowship with our Father and walk in obedience to Him. Adam received his directions from the Father as he would walk God in the cool of the day.

The gift that God has given to us is a relationship that is being one with Him.  That means that we must be exactly like Him.  He accomplished this at the resurrection of Jesus and it becomes a reality when we receive Jesus and are born again.  Jesus gave us eternal life and as we look to the new creation that we have become and not the efforts of our flesh we walk in the victory that God meant for us to walk in.  Our spirits, who are the real you and me, were made exactly like Jesus who is the perfect image of the Father. Because of this the Holy Spirit can dwell in our spirit. He is the transforming power through the word of God, to change our souls. It is not our effort to change but to yield to His power with in us.  In every situation, in every temptation, in every struggle to obey we look to the greater one within us to live His life out through us.  So we are actively looking to His life in us to walk in the ways that please Him.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬
