Loving Him
Devotions:
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.”
John 14:23-24 KJV
We need to come to understand the importance of obedience. In the new birth God gave us a heart that wants to do His will. Our spirits want to obey the Father but if we allow sin to rule us we will walk a thorny path to destruction. As we walk the path of obedience to the leading of the Spirit of God Jesus said that He and the Father would come and make their abode with us. Our obedience is motivated by our love for God. When we understand the love that was demonstrated at the cross it creates love in me for God and for god's people.
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:12-13 KJV
Jesus demonstrated God's love for us by laying down His life for us. We did not ask for this love but for this love we were created and we cannot live without it. Our focus is to be upon Jesus and His love for us, not on our sins and disobedience. The more we walk in love the ore we will walk in obedience. The more we walk in obedience the more the presence of the Father is seen upon us by the Holy Spirit and the more people get saved, healed and delivered. Our focus is to be on his love for us by continually giving praise and thanksgiving to him for what He has done for us and to us. he delivered us from the cruel, merciless taskmaster of sin and set us free to worship Him. We are to spend our lives loving Him.
