Keeping the Law by Grace

Devotions:
“Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 18:5 KJV
Keeping God's statutes and judgements are the way of life. The trouble we cannot keep them by the power of our flesh. In themselves, no one can keep them and thus all fall short of the glory of God, all fall short of life. Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came to give us life and that more abundantly. Jesus kept all of the law of God perfectly. In no point did He fail. He demonstrated the abundant life on earth and then went to the cross to take our death that we could have abundant life. He gave us His perfection by giving us His resurrection life. This is the life that He proved by living perfectly, totally submitted to the Father.
Jesus kept the law of God perfectly because the law of God was a description of who He was. This is the life that He has imparted to us and recreated us with, in His likeness and His image. Therefore the law is now a description of who we are in the spirit. If we learn to yield to the life within us instead of trying to fulfill the law with our will and strength, we will find the power of God working through us to will and to do to His good pleasure. Doing the law then happens when we follow the Spirit so that we put down the deeds of the flesh. Instead of sorrow and misery, we will walk in joy and gladness, favor and mercy.
