Praying in the Name of Jesus.

Devotions:

“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:”

“for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.”

‭‭John‬ ‭16:23-24, 26‬,27  ‭KJV‬‬

New Testament prayer has the added advantage of the name of Jesus.  We must understand what is behind the name of Jesus. When we understand what is behind that name then we will understand the extent of the authority that we have to act on.

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” ‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-19‬ ‭NASB‬‬

In Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, He took back the original authority that Adam lost when he chose to believe Satan over God.  Adam was given rulership over all of God's creation.  Jesus took this authority back and then gave it to the church when He said, "Go:

So when we pray using the name of Jesus, all the authority of heaven is backing our prayer,  When we have our mind fixed on this truth we begin to pray with confidence.

Jesus said that when we pray using His name that He would not even be the intermediary on our behalf but that the Father would respond to us because He loves us.  As we ask in faith in the Name of Jesus we believe that we receive what we asked for that our joy would be made full. It does not say that God will give us what He wants regardless of what we ask for because He knows better.  No! It says, ask in the name of Jesus and we will receive that our joy would be made full.
