“It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.” Psalms 118:8-9 KJV
To trust in the Lord is to trust in His word. Many are saying that they are trusting in God and yet do not know what His word says and if they do then do not believe it. They do not believe that God cannot lie. They say that they do trust in the Lord, but their actions tell a different story. To trust in the Lord is to know what His word says and to act like it is true. We must choose to believe what the Lord says in His word over what our feelings are and what our circumstances say, Circumstances are subject to change, God's word will never change. If we are not believing what the Lord says then we are believing what the enemy says which will be to our destruction.
To fight the good fight of faith we must use the weapon that Jesus used, the word of God. his answer to the devil was, "It is written." If Jesus the Son of God had to use the word of God to withstand the attacks of the enemy then so must we. Jesus also said that he only said and did what He heard His Father saying and what He saw His Father doing. The word was not just a defensive weapon but and offensive one as well. We are suppose to be advancing on the kingdom of darkness not just holding our own. We will advance only as we use the sword of the spirit. As we speak the word of God, Angels move to back we what we say.
“Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.” Psalms 103:20 KJV
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
Ephesians 6:17 KJV
To defeat the enemy, we do not ask God to defeat him because He has already done all he is going to do, He defeated him on the cross for us. We must take the word of God, the sword of the spirit and use it against the enemy. We are to take the provision of the cross and choose to believe it no matter what we feel nor what the circumstances.
