Devotions:

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John‬ ‭15:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Jesus here makes two stipulations for having our prayers answered. One is to abide in Him.  We are in Him because we are born again. We were born into Him. We partake of His eternal salvation which keeps us.  We are to then to have His word abide in us or remain in us. The word of God is the basis of our prayer life because our faith comes from His word. When we base our prayer request on His word then we will have the faith that we will get an answer.  God watches over His word to perform it, Jeremiah1:12

Our first step when we have a prayer need is to find the promise in the word of God that tells us of the provision that God has already made available for us.  Then we can ask with confidence that God will fulfill His word.
