“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” ‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Paul says that the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all.  Jesus gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  Notice here that God did all the work of salvation. Jesus redeemed us.  We could not redeem ourselves but Jesus did it for us.  He redeemed us from all iniquity.  Sin no longer has a hold on us because we have been redeemed. Our victory comes when we get our minds renewed  To the fact that we have been redeemed from all iniquity.

Furthermore it is Jesus who purifies us, not we ourselves who do the purifying, but Jesus.  When we know this and look to the Jesus, our holiness, that dwells within us and His work, not our own, that we walk in our salvation.  When we know the reality of our redemption that we become zealous for good works not to be saved but because in the goodness of God, we are saved.  None of the work of the devil has any power over us. Our victory dwells in us in the person of Jesus.  Not our strength but His strength within us.  Not even our desire but His desire within us.
