Resting In God

September 7, 2017

Devotions:

We must come to a rest in the Lord.  We need to rest even as He rested at the end of creation. On the seventh day He rested from all His works. He had made man in His image and His likeness and it did not matter that the enemy was able to get in and marr the creation, God's word still stands. So in the creation there was also the salvation of man where we are made into the image of Jesus in the new creation.  It is a finished work.  We are a spirit and our spirits were recreated in His image. As we walk with Him the power of His Spirit within us changes our souls and eventually our bodies.  But these are finished works of His and not of our initiative.  What changes us is His glory, His goodness manifested to us in His love. It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentence. Romans 2:4 He has loved us with and everlasting love so He continues to draw us to Him. Jeremiah 31:3 We can resist and turn away from His goodness but He will draw us until we have so hardened ourselves that we are oblivious to His drawing.

We then rest in His finished work at Calvary, a work that was finished from the foundation of the world. God's perfect creation was also a perfect salvation.

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬
