We Are Not Our Own!

 January 11, 2018

Devotions:

Some would have those who have gotten away from the Lord come and remediate themselves to the Lord.  But this is an inaccurate understanding of Salvation.  We are not our own, we have been bought with a price and we are to no longer live unto ourselves.

“For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:14-15‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” ‭Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭NASB

When we receive what Christ did for us in dying for our sins we are born again and we then no longer belong to ourselves.  Adam's sin was in declaring his independence from God and trying to then act like his own God which he could not do.  Satan became his god. In the new birth our creator once again becomes our God and we leave the lordship of Satan. We never have the option of self rule.  As new creations in Christ we no longer belong to ourselves. This is good news becasuse in ourselves we do not have what it takes to be pleasing to our Creator. Jesus pleased the Father in all things, then took our place of punishment and gave us His favor with the Father.  Jesus never lost favor with the Father because He always acted in fauith.  Our problem today is in knowing our identity in Christ. The solution is in knowing God intimately.‬‬
