Marked For Blessings
February 17, 2017
Devotions:
Abraham and his male descendants were markedly God to receive His blessings. This was circumcision, the mark of the Old Covenant. They were favored by God. This is what David stood upon when he went against Goliath. David called Goliath the uncircumcised Philistine. David was emphasizing the fact that he had a covenant with the one, true living God and Goliath did not.
Circumcision was a shadow of good things to come. Circumcision was a picture of the new birth. In the new birth we die with Christ and are raised to new life with Him. We are made new creations in Him.
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature." Galatians 6:15 KJV
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" Galatians 2:20 KJV
As new creations in Christ we have been marked to receive God's blessings and favor like Old Covenant saints but more so, they did not have their sins removed only covered, looking forward to the cross. We have our sins removed by Jesus' death on the cross.
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” Colossians 1:27 KJV
So when the Father looks at born again Christians He sees Jesus, the Son of His love, the Son of His favor. As the Father loved and favored Jesus, so He loves and favors us. We are marked for favor.
