“A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” Proverbs 13:2-3 KJV
We are guided by the words of our mouth. When we speak what God has said and what God has performed for us then we will walk in His blessings. Our mouths are the rudder of our lives. Our mouths create a solid road for us to follow or they create a boggy marsh that sucks all of our energy and drags us down in life. When we walk in transgression or sin it brings violence to our souls and to our lives. Our greatest discipline is to keep our mouth in check and at times shut. There is a time to speak and a time to keep silent. Jesus disciplined Himself so that He spoke only what He heard what His Father saying. Jesus. Is our model and our way of life. Jesus followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and we are to follow suit and make the following the leading of the Holy Spirit our top priority. As we listen to the Holy Spirit and follow His leading and say what He says we will walk in the fullness of what our loving Father God has for us. If we are loose with what we say then our words become loose canons, friendly fire, that do much destruction. Satan gains his authority from us and through the words of unbelief that we speak towards what God has done and faith in what Satan tells us. Your words are the tools for your life, make them work for you not against you.
