Do Not Use Your Freedom As An Opportunity For The Flesh

October 3, 2022

Devotions:

We are saved by grace and not of our own works. As we walk with the Lord, by grace we are to walk in righteousness and holiness. If we give occasion to our flesh, even though we have been set free we are saying that we really do not believe in our salvation. We then open the door to the devil to come an to harass us and our families. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy from us. He is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. So you might get away with a sin but the enemy will eventually find you if you persist in your sin. There is a fleeting pleasure of sin for a season. It like bait on a fish hook. When you take the bait, you get hooked. He who commits sin is a slave to sin and under the power of the enemy, Satan.

If we get enslaved to sin, when we turn to Jesus, He will set us free from the sin. We must resist the temptation to engage the sin again. We can do this by His grace. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. If we choose to dabble in sin, we may not go to hell if we are born again but we will live a hellish life on the earth. When we sow to the flesh we will reap corruption.

There was a man with a bad ulcer and when prayed for healing it was revealed that the ulcer was the result of carrying unforgiveness. He could not be healed until he forgave those who had offended him. The sin of unforgiveness left the door open to the enemy to afflict him. Is there something that the Lord has been dealing with you about giving up? Do not leave the door open to the enemy.

“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”
