In god’s Image

Devotions:

When God created Adam and Eve, He created them in His image and His likeness. When they sinned that image was marred and twisted as we see with the incident of Cain killing his brother Abel out of jealousy. This marred and twisted nature then was passed down through Adam to the whole human race. God’s mercy overlooked much of the sin from that nature as long as the person looked to Him.

When  Jesus came and paid the price for our sin and then gave us a new nature like His, the sin issue was dealt with once and for all. In Jesus we have forgiveness for all our sins and our nature has been changed from a fallen sin nature to a nature of righteousness. This work in us in unchangeable. We can reject it if we are mature and lose it but we cannot lose it through acting in sin.

Sin carries natural consequences and we will suffer those consequences if we commit sin. If we then call out to God He will show us how to get out of the sin and remove as much of the consequences as possible.

Now we are in the image and likeness of God and we cannot lose that image. God has fulfilled what He originally started to do.  Therefore walk as the Son of God that you were created to be.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” ‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬
