No LOnger Slaves to Sin

Devotions:
“But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].” 1 Corinthians 9:27 AMPC
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Romans 6:1-7, 12, 14 KJV
We are no longer slaves to sin. We are no longer under the control of sin. Sin will try to encroach upon us but we have been liberated, not by our will or our strength but by the death of Christ. We walk in our freedom not by our gritting our teeth to try not to sin but by renewing our minds to the truth that God has already done for us. When we know the truth we are set free. We must know this truth not just with our minds but in our hearts where faith is generated.
Sin is no longer our master but it is under our feet. We are not to let our flesh control us but as we feed on the word of God about our vast inheritance we are to seek those things that are above where Christ is seated in heavenly places. We are also seated with Him and our lifestyle is then to be from the heavenly realm not the earthly realm.
