Predestinated

Devotions:
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29 KJV
As believers we are predestinated to be conformed to the image of Jesus. This is God’s faith in action to conform us to be like Him and it was first released in the creation when God said “let us make man in our image and in our likeness.” God never wavered from this faith statement even when Adam and Eve sinned. Our growing into the likeness of Jesus who was the perfect image of the Father, is not by any of our efforts. This is all God transforming us by the operation of His power through faith.
In the Old Testament the saints could not me transformed into the image of Jesus because they were not born again of the divine seed and they had no idea what Jesus looked like. God could only curb their sinful nature. The law showed them that they were in sin but it could not deliver them.
When Jesus came, He removed our sinful nature. Also people once again had an opportunity to understand what God was really like and what God had in mind for them, to be like Him. We see this in the portrayal of Jesus in the Gospels.
Our job, then is to feed on the word of God. As we then spend time praying in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit reveals to us Christ in us. This allows God to transform us by not getting in His way with our own efforts. We then are transformed by love into a love being as God is. As we behold Him we are transformed into His likeness in our souls.
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 KJV
