The Mirror Of God

Devotions:

“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” ‭James‬ ‭1:23-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Many people have a mistaken understanding about what you see when you look into the mirror of the word of God. They believe that you are to see all your weaknesses, sins and where you have missed it before God.  But this is not true. We only think that because a sin consciousness and not a righteousness consciousness.  Was Jesus made sin with our sins that we might become righteous with His righteousness?  Is 2 Corinthians 5:21 true?

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  ‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is the mystery of salvation, that God replaced our dead, sinful spirit with His eternal life which is His life and nature.

When we look into the mirror of the word of God we are to see the image of Jesus looking back at us.  Before we were born again our souls were programmed by our sinful nature. We bore the image of our forefather, Adam. After we are born again our spirit is replaced by God’s divine life and we then look just like Jesus, sinless.  Jesus bore all of our sins away never to be remembered again.  We have been trained to see imperfection and not God’s perfection.  Do not read the word to see how unworthy you are but to see how God has made you in Christ Jesus then act like it.
