The Hope Of His Calling

Devotions:
“the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”
Ephesians 1:18 KJV
The greatest need of the church today is that our eyes would be open to the three things for which Paul ask. There are two in this verse. We need to have a revelation on what is the hope of God’s calling. He has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. God called us out of t he kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of the Son of His love. God’s hope is that we will all mature and walk as Sons of God, (that is position and not gender. Male and females are all sons of God if they have been born again.) To walk as a son of God we must walk by the leading of the Spirit. This is not talking about going to heaven but walking in heaven on the earth. The hope of God’s calling was God‘s original intention for Adam and Eve but they walked away from God’s plan by believing Satan.
God hopes for the fulfillment of His calling for us because we have a part to play. We must choose to walk in obedience to the leading of the Spirit. If we choose to go own way instead of God’s way.
“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:” 2 Peter 1:10 KJV
Our calling and election is sure in heaven. Peter tells us to make it sure, established and settled in our hearts on this earth. When it is established in our hearts we will fulfill the hope that our Father has for us.
