God’s Plan Or Our Plan

“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” ‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:11-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The foundation of our lives is Jesus Christ. If we try to make the foundation our own selves, our own pleasure then we have a foundation built on sand and when the test and trials come our foundation with crumble.  In Mathew 7 Jesus said that we are to build our foundation on being doers of His word. If we only hear His word and are not doers of it we will be destroyed.

Paul says we are to build with gold, which is divine nature, silver which is the finished work of salvation in Jesus Christ and precious stones which represents the manifestations of the glory of God.

If we build with wood, hay and stubble then when life comes with it’s storms, our building, our life will be destroyed. The wood, hay and stubble is when we set out to do our own thing, even if what we are doing looks like it is God, but we have not heard from God about what He would have us do. Like Abram trying to help God give him a son and he created Ishmael. Our plans without God are Ishmaels. They are a hinderance to God’s plan for us.

We want the foundation to be right and the building material to be right. If we are doing God’s plan then He will back our work and bless it.  If we do our own plan and ask God to bless it, He is limited and will bless as much as fits in with His plan.
