Goodness and Mercy

Devotions:

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” ‭Psalm‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Notice here David does not say that goodness and mercy might follow me if I do everything right. Or that there is a good possibility that goodness and mercy will follow me. No he says “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me…” Shall is the strongest word in the English language to show action. And he did not say that goodness and mercy would follow me for a while and then no more would I see goodness and mercy. No goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. I heard a translation/paraphrase that put it this way, “Surely goodness and mercy will run down the street and tackle me.” Do not look back for goodness and mercy. Just know that they are following you to overtake you and they have no problem overtaking you as you walk with the Lord. Expect them to manifest everyday in your life.

Religion paints God as a mean, cruel God, who is very exacting towards His children. Here we get a different view. A God full of goodness and mercy sending goodness and mercy your direction to overtake you in all that you do for your Lord. His goodness and mercy are a gift from Him to you. Receive it and confess it all the time.
