“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;”
Ephesians 1:15-16 KJV
Another powerful and important prayer that Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus is found here in chapter one of the book to the Ephesians. This Holy Spirit given prayer is not just for the church at Ephesus but for the whole body of Christ. That is why it is recorded here.
Paul starts out pay telling us who he is praying for, those who believe on Jesus and love the saints, that is those who are saved. Notice that Paul does not tell them how he always is going before the Father to complain about them but he never ceases giving thanks for them. We are to remind God continually in our prayers of what He has accomplished in the finished work of Jesus. We are to agree with what God has done for each saint and not focus on where they have missed it. In fact this prayer is a prayer to ask God to give the saints a revelation of the wondrous work of Jesus and the Father for us. God already knows where everyone has missed it, He wants us to stand with Him in the work of redemption that is for every believer that everyone would come to the full knowledge of who they are in Christ. So when we pray for each other, we are to remind the Father of the glorious work of redemption that He has done on our behalf. As we do, He will take care of the course correction for whom we are praying.
