The Blessing of Those Who mourn

Devotions:

““Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

“To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” ‭Isaiah‬ ‭61:2-3‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

When we mourn with a godly mourning because of our sins and the curse that in upon us in the world then Jesus said that we would be comforted. Why? Because Jesus came to take all of our sin away and without our sin the curse has no cause to come upon us. We live in the enemies back yard so he will try to put the curse upon us and if we have not been enlightened by the word of God we will accept the curse because we accept the enemy passing judgement upon us. But Jesus removed all the damming evidence by taking it upon Himself on the cross and paying the full price for the sin.

So we have a garland of rejoicing and beauty instead of the ashes of grieving . The oil of gladness instead of mourning and a cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit of heaviness. When we see ourselves as we really are without God our hearts sink until we understand His great love for us and the we are comforted. We are truly blessed when we know that in spite of our condition without God, God is calling us into His presence to radically change us into His image and His likeness.
