Good Things We Ask For

May 25, 2022

Devotions:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:7-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is one of the masterful prayer promises. If we ask we shall receive. If we seek we shall find. Many times there are things that happen that we do not know why but if we will seek from the Lord the answers and wait on Him, if it is something that concerns us, God will answer. When we knock we can know that the door will be open. God shows us a direction to go but may times we must knock before the way will be open for us.

After I finished Bible school the Lord told me to return to seminary and finish my degree that I had started before Bible school. I did not want to do this but I finally yielded to God. When I applied to get back into seminary, I was turned down because of previous bad grades. But I knew what the Lord had told me so I went to the dean and talked with her. She told me that because of my grades I would not be admitted. Then I asked if I could be a special student and take classes. She assured me that there would be no problem with that. I took two semesters as a special student and made good enough grades to reinter and finish in one semester. I had to knock but when I did the door opened.

If we being evil know how to give good gifts to our children, HOW MUCH MORE shall our Father who is in heaven give good things to we who ask. Many times we are not assured of our standing with our Heavenly Father so we are timid to ask. God wants us to ask and He is waiting on tip toe to answer us positively.
