To Bless Or To Curse

Devotions:
“As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: As he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, So let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, And for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.” Psalm 109:17-19 KJV
Our words and what we believe are so important. When we say something about someone or something that is not a blessing then we are cursing. These words will come back to destroy us. If we continuously speak blessings in all situations then theses words will come back to bless us. What we say will direct our path and make our way smooth or rough.
This psalm is a prophecy about Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus for some money. His end was very bitter. We may not betray Jesus but our words will still affect us either positively or negatively. I knew a young lady who always was cursing people and she had many medical problems. You could not convince her that people were not after her and cursing her. Her real problem was with her mouth. This passage accurately describes her situation. Our human bodies were not made to withstand negativity especially from our own mouth. When we say negative things about people and things we usually not just speaking empty words. We should instead choose to speak blessings over people and things. The ones that seem to be the most worthy of our curses are the ones who need the blessing the most. God’s goal is always reconciliation not judgement. We see this when Jesus was crucified. He spoke a blessing over those who put Him to death. This was the Father’s will and should be our goal, to speak blessing over all.
