“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus had a job to do for the Father. Jesus finished what He was sent to do. We have a general task to preach the gospel but we all have a specific subset or job that is assigned to by the Father. We need to spend time in His word and in prayer asking what is the job that He has for us to finish. When we find out what that Job is we should do it with all of our hearts. This does not just apply to those are called as apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors, and teachers but it is for the whole body of Christ. When we all function where God has called then the whole body of Christ will function most effectively and efficiently. Many who are called as pastors and pastor do not enter into the first phase of their ministry and are frustrated all of their lives. They either do not know to ask or they are spending time listening. Many times denominational tradition will dictate what is expected from a minister even though God is calling them to do something different. It is important to hear from God about the place and ministry that He has for you. Everyone has a place not just those in the “ministry”. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is for all believers and it is the power and equipping to fulfill the ministry that God has for you. This is what glorifies God.
