God’s Love Never Changes

Devotions:

Does God love me when I sin? Does He love me as much as when I am not sinning? We sometimes think that God loves a sinner more than He loves a saint who sins.

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So God is love and He never changes. His love then is constant whether we sin or not. In the Old Covenant their sins would separate the saints from God. God’s love did not change but the people were still in their sin. The blood of Jesus had not been shed for our sins. But in the New Testament when we sin the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin. When we sin as believers we are not believing the love of God has for us. What changes is our receiving or not believing in God’s love. God wants us to be rooted and grounded in His love. God’s love is always reaching out to us to call us back to Him.

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” ‭Romans‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Repentance is not just initially turning to God to be born again but also it is necessary for our being transformed into His image. Our love is a product of our understanding His love for us, and that His love towards never changes.

Some say if God is love how can He send people to hell? God does not sent people to hell, they go because they refuse His free gift of mercy and grace which are a product of His love for us.
