Holy Spirit Conviction

Devotions:

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

‭‭John‬ ‭16:8-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are coworkers with the Holy Spirit. We have the easy part. The  Holy Spirit who knows everything, His job is to convict the world, not ours. We are called to love as God has loved. When we try to do the work of the Holy Spirit we will get bad results. Our job is to obey His leadings and promptings. When we speak we are to speak what the Holy Spirit has said and nothing more. He knows what the needs of people are and what it takes to meet those needs. We are just His instruments on this earth to speak what He speaks and do what we see Him doing.

He convicts the world of sin because they do not know the sin bearer. When we are born again into an intimate relationship with Jesus all of our sins have been removed by His blood. Some would say that if you sin as a Christian and do not repent you will go to hell when you die. The issue is not sin, but do you know Jesus. Because we are in Christ we go to heaven and as we live out our life here on earth our desire should be to be totally set free from the destructiveness of sin to walk in the glorious liberty of the Sons of God.

The second thing the Holy Spirit convicts of is righteousness because Jesus has gone to the Father and we see Him no more. That is the door of righteousness has been opened to all for anyone to enter. The choice is ours. Satan tries to tell us that the way of righteousness is dull and boring but nothing could be farther from the truth. Living in God’s goodness is the most exciting life there is.

Finally the Holy Spirit convicts of judgement because the enemy has been judged and found guilty. Why then would we want to hang around in his kingdom? He is a loser. Jesus is the Victor. Do not mess with sin!
