Intimacy With God

July 11, 2022

Devotions:

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” ‭John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

We were created to have intimacy with our Heavenly Father. The enemy comes along and perverts this with promiscuity, adultery, fornication, pornography, aberrant sexual behavior, all trying to reach satisfaction through the physical. We must first spend intimate time with our Father God through praise and worship. When we are married, our physical intimacy with our spouse is but a reflection of our time of intimacy with our Father.

“For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over every ruler and authority;”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Our intimacy is made possible because of the work of Jesus in His redemption of us. We were received His righteousness and are made one with our Father. That is we have been made in full agreement with our Father God.

If we do not practice this intimacy with God then we will look to others to fulfill us and they cannot. We will go to more and more extremes to be fulfilled because only God can fulfill us. When we are fulfilled by God continually then we can be the instrument thatHe uses to fulfill our spouse.

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. [Prov. 23:20.] Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” ‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:18-21‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

We are to be intoxicated by His presence. This can only happen when we are coming boldly into His presence to spend time worshipping Him and thanking Him for all He has done in salvation for us.
