Doing The Works Of Jesus
July 3, 2022
Devotions:
“He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.” John 16:14-16 KJV
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would glorify Jesus. So any operating by the Spirit in prophesy or any other manifestations of the Spirit and takes credit for the work is stealing Jesus’ glory. This is a dangerous place to be. God said that He would share His glory with no one. We must remember that all that we do is to be by the operation of God. This is how Jesus operated. He only did what He saw His Father doing. He only said what He heard His Father saying. When we refuse to speak or act unless we hear or see the Father speaking or acting then we will be speaking the wisdom of the universe and demonstration the wisdom of the universe.
To do this we must train ourselves to know the inner witness of the Spirit. This is the major way that He will lead us. He leads us in other ways but we can only expect an inner witness. If God chooses to speak to us with His voice or give us a dream or vision then He can in His sovereignty but we cannot demand that He lead us in that way. We can also pray in tongues and ask for interpretation but interpretation will come only as He wills.
To develop our sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit we must spend time meditating in His word, be a doer of His word, put His word first place and follow our conscious, the voice of our spirit. If we give our spirit the privilege of feeding regularly on the word of God, our spirit will grow and be dependable in hearing from God.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8 KJV
