Victory In Jesus

Devotions:

“And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” ‭Luke‬ ‭10:18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is under the Old Covenant, how much more under the New Covenant when Jesus defeated the enemy and placed him under His feet. We are in the body so he is under our feet also as a defeated foe. Every time we exercise our God given authority we are demonstrating the defeat of Satan. As we go out into the world to fulfill our assignment from God, the enemy will oppose us. Jesus said that He has given us power, really authority, to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. So serpents and scorpions represent the work of the enemy. Satan will try to frighten us into believing that he can harm us but he cannot. We must be confident in the Lord’s authority on our behalf.

The authority will only work as we releasing through the words that we speak. We must stand our ground against the wiles of the enemy. We already have the victory in Jesus.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The rock is the revelation of Christ and in the New Testament it is Christ in us. Our victory is in Christ who dwells within us. Jesus is the one building His church. All we are to do is to hear and obey. Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church. That is as the church is on the offensive against the gates of hell and Satan.
