God Seeking Us

August 2, 2022

Devotions:

In the three parables in Luke 15, the shepherd seeking the lost sheep, the woman seeking the lost coin and the Father of the prodigal son. In all three of these the objects that were lost were sought by the one in charge. The father was continually looking for his lost son and upon seeing him, he ran to embrace him. The son was immediately forgiven and accepted back into the family as if he had never left. The shepherd and the woman diligently sought for lost objects.

The three lost objects, the lost lamb, the lost coin, and the lost son all represent the lost or wayward people. The point is that those that were lost were not seeking to be restored. It was the owner doing the seeking. The only one who tried to return was the son when things got bad.

God is seeking to restore our relationship with Him. We must respond to His love. The shepherd is Jesus.  The woman represents the Holy Spirit. The father is our Heavenly Father. All seeking for us. Humans do not seek for God unless prompted by the Holy Spirit. It is God’s desire that none be lost but that all come to the knowledge of salvation. So God is seeking everyone but not everyone  will respond and accept His mercy.

“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
