Devotions:

“waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” Titus‬ ‭2:13-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This tells us of Jesus action for our redemption. We all know that He died for our sins to redeem us. He delivered us for all lawlessness. That is we have been delivered from all sin. The reason that we then experience sin is because we have not known that we have been delivered. We do not believe we are delivered by Jesus.

Notice that it is Jesus then that purifies us and makes us a people zealous for good works. Our problem is when we do not see ourselves as having been delivered by Jesus and try to deliver ourselves by our works to please God instead of looking to the finished work of Jesus. It is by faith that we are saved by grace. Grace is God’s power to enable us to walk pleasing to God. Our part is to believe God’s word. We receive faith by hearing the word of God constantly.
